My Project process: The first step in creating this project was to create a business plan for English. I used an empty templet of a business plan to follow some guidelines on the structure of a professional business plan. During this process I had to have the mind set and prospective of a business owner. Another component of the English portion of my project was a brochure. My brochure included images, how the product was made and what store the product would be available at. The next step I took in my project was the art portion. I had to begin by creating the outlines of a makeup palette. This was difficult because it was my first time designing a structure like this, in fact, designing a structure at all. I planned to use the 3-D printer to print out my design with the help from my teacher and a student that was very good with software of the 3-D printer. After drawing many designs on paper I checked with many people to be which design they thought best fit a eyeshadow palette. Once I finally landed on the design I wanted to create, I met with my art teacher and we talked about the software needed to use the 3-D printer. I had no clue how to use it so a student showed me the basics of the computer software. After creating my design on the computer, it was time to print. I had to print many times and make many changes until I finally printed out a product that looked good and had working hinges. I then had go begin making the actual eyeshadow to place in the palette. I made four different colors. This was really just the trial and error part of my project because I had to continue trying different amounts of each ingredient until I reach my desired consistency. When I finished making the eyeshadow and had the consistency was accurate I filled the eyeshadow palette with the product. I had planned to engrave the name "FIEND" in the lid of my palette, however, I ran out of time. Although this project is over, I do plan to finish it off by adding the business name on the lid. Throughout this process I had think with a perspective of a designer. This was rather difficult for me because I have never make such an in depth art project before. My last step was the social studies portion of my project. The first thing that came to my mind for this subject was the FDA regulations for making a successful cosmetic product. I began with basic research. I found a very trustworthy source with all of the correct information that I needed. I turned all of my research into an article someone could read to help them understand all of the FDA regulations they need to know to create their own cosmetic product. After finishing my article I found a form that must be filled out and sent to the FDA before they approve a product. I filled the form out according to my information on my eyeshadow. After completing the form, I realized that I didn't know what some of the boxes meant and had to look them up. This problem inspired me to create another article on how to fill out the FDA form for cosmetics. In the article I explained what each of the boxes meant as a cheat-cheat for anyone struggling like I did. As my final contribution for my social studies portion, I created the top of this website. I explained how I would test the product as if I was actually going to sell it. I also explained how important body image was to my fake business. Images: |
